Second Request: As a dyslexic staff member, I use Perplexity.ai as an assistive technology that aligns with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles by reducing barriers related to reading, writing, and information processing. The tool increases my productivity by enabling efficient access to information, supporting the drafting and revision of written materials, and reducing the cognitive load associated with text-heavy tasks, allowing me to focus on higher-level professional responsibilities. Perplexity.ai also enhances collaboration and communication by supporting multiple means of expression, a core UDL principle, allowing me to communicate more clearly and confidently with colleagues, administrators, and families. Overall, it functions as an equity-based accommodation that ensures meaningful access to job-related tasks and supports my ability to perform essential job functions effectively and independently. I have previously had consistent access to this tool as an assistive technology accommodation; however, over the past month, my access has been inconsistent.
